The Shape of Music
Matt is fascinated by exploring new and interesting ways of composing music. The Shape of Music, a live and fully improvised performance, shows ways in which musicians (and audiences) can throw away their traditional approaches to music making, and truly think outside the box.
The Shape of Music is in essence a synaesthetic performance, based on utilising both shape and image to create music. It showcases a variety of non-traditional ways of composing and performing, using the principles of synaesthesia (an amalgamation of all the physical senses) to create music. It is an unorthodox approach to music composition utilising spatial awareness and improvisation.
This show can be adapted for a wide number of musicians to perform, from two to twenty, depending on the instruments involved. It can be watched as a performance, or undertaken as a workshop by musicians.
